Swimming Pool Leaf Cover

A swimming pool leaf cover is something that I definitely can’t live without! If you’ve perused any of the other information on this site, you’ll notice that I have many full grown trees in my yard, and one large Cottonwood located right above my pool!

The Cottonwood actually isn’t the biggest issue for my pool, it’s the Weeping Willow I have off to the side. I love this tree, but those tiny little leaves are a bugger to get off of the bottom of a pool floor!

Dealing with leaves and other debris is basically the same for above ground and inground pools. The only difference is making sure that you’re purchasing the appropriate leaf cover to meet your needs. Other than the specific size and/or style of the cover, the issues are basically the same.

Swimming pool solar covers have a surprisingly large impact on keeping the leaves out of your pool. The leaves land on top of the solar cover, and are then eventually taken away by the wind. Without a cover, they land on the surface of the water in your pool, hopefully get pulled into the skimmer, and if not sink to the bottom of the pool floor where they must then be dealt with by swimming pool vacuums.

Dealing with leaf problems throughout the off season is a different matter completely! A good option is to obtain a swimming pool leaf cover in the form of a large net which gets placed on top of the winter cover. Any type of net will do as long as the small leaves can't get through the holes. I’d suggest trying a large fishing net!

Place the net on top of the pool, and when you’re doing your spring cleaning, you’ll pull the net, along with all of those nasty, soggy leaves, off of the winter cover. Then you can easily suck the remainder of the water off of the winter cover by using a submersible pump.

This type of swimming pool leaf cover can really make spring clean up so much easier. I have found myself too many times, sitting on top of the winter cover, trying to rake off the leaves and lob them over the side of the pool. A messy, stinky task indeed!
