Lawn and Garden Decor

What landscape would be complete without a little lawn and garden decor? Some folks like a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of decor...personally, I prefer just a few accent pieces here and there. The more unique the better!!

Lawn and garden decor - this is one of a set of solar lights located in my yard. I have a wind chime, which actually needs to be replaced because it’s so old, a beautiful glass jar used to attract bees (although I don't have the heart to kill the bees...especially honey bees....they're much too important to our environment, so I will keep it there solely as decoration), and a couple of solar lights that change color in the front of the house.

I’d like to add some unique lawn and garden decor, perhaps that I make myself or find at a local craft fair. I’ve mentioned my Hosta Fiesta before...what I’d like to do is have a brightly colored, weather resistant sign that says Hosta Fiesta...maybe in the style of someone like Romero Britto or similar abstract artist. I’d also like to put one amongst the ferns that says Fern Fandangle. Cute, hey? And of course, I’d LOVE to have a Beastie (opens new window) in my yard...aaahhhhhh dare to dream! Some decor can provide function as well as beauty – I’ve seen some really pretty copper watering devices that are also quite decorative in nature. I will include pictures of other interesting and fun items as I find them. Perhaps some will inspire you for your own backyard!

Lawn and garden decor - this is a large copper sun that my parents have located on the front of their house.

This is a copper piece approximately 3 feet by 3 feet that my parents have hanging on the front of their house. Certainly creates a warm feeling, don't you think?

Lawn and garden decor - technically a bee catcher, although I use it only for design!

This is a picture of a decorative bee-catcher that I have placed close to my patio. I did find one bee in there once, and I ended up setting it free. Regardless, I think it functions as a highly decorative piece in the landscape. I like it more for beauty than for function.

I've also seen these bottle trees (see the advertisement below) several different places, and they are just too cool! Even if you didn't want to buy one, it may be fairly easy to replicate the design and add your own color bottles.

Perch one of these in a sunny location with some nice landscaping bushes as your backdrop...very unique and eye-catching!

That's all for now.

As always, thanks for visiting and happy landscaping!
