Hot Tub Cover Lift

I was actually quite surprised to find out how essential a hot tub cover lift is if you’re going to add a hot tub or swimming pool to your own backyard landscaping project.

It is possible for one person to slide the cover on and off of your hot tub without the cover lift, but it’s awkward, it could lead to back injuries, and if your tubbing in the cool weather, pretty much the last thing you want is to wrestle with a cover once you’re nice a relaxed after a soak!

This hot tub cover lift makes it SO easy to remove the cover for tubbing!

The cover lift is not nearly as “high-tech” as it sounds. When I first heard that terminology, I thought it would be this fancy, shmancy electrical device that would elevate my cover up and out of my way. Not so. It’s actually a basic support rod, which makes the cover easier to slide on and off. Nothing too fancy, but seriously necessary!

You can see by my pictures here, the cover lift is not even attached to the cover...it just lays right above it. It does have a non-weight bearing attachment on each side to prevent it from moving from one side or another, but most of the weight of the cover is concentrated on the bottom of the hot tub cover lift.

This hot tub cover lift was surprisingly easy to install. I was able to slide a couple of 2”x 4”s under each side of my hot tub. They slid in tightly, and I attached the cover lift to the wood. This made is a very secure connection, and I didn’t have to drill into the hot tub itself, which I liked.

The cover can now be easily opened and closed by one person!

This item is definitely worth the investment, and I’m sorry that I didn't have my cover lift installed sooner!

Click on either of the pictures on this page for information on purchasing a cover lift.

More information on hot tubs can be found at hot tub care and hot tub installation.

Happy tubbing!
