Garden Catalogs

Please be advised that many links on the garden catalogs page
open new windows.

There are garden catalogs designed to give you inspiration for your next do it yourself landscaping project, provide an avenue for your to purchase yard plants and establish your landscaping plant guide, teach you different tips and techniques to grow healthier vegetables, attract birds, grow greener grass, purchase better patio furniture and everything else related to gardening and backyard enjoyment that you can think of.

Some of my favorite garden catalogs are the ones that I get to order my bulbs, plants, trees and vegetables from.

I have to admit that I go C-R-A-Z-Y every year with every one of these garden catalogs!! (As a matter of fact, I’m getting ready to go “crazy” with a Henry Fields catalog right now!)

I love buying my seeds and plants from catalogs because it allows me to select from the best in the business. The seeds are superior, the plants are superior, and I find the largest selection.

The following is a list of garden catalogs that I typically order from:

Henry Fields - as stated above, I have a HUGE order ready to be placed with this company. This is an excellent company to order seasonal fruit and vegetable seeds for your garden. They have a huge selection, and the seeds produce very reliable plants.

Brecks is another one of the great garden catalogs. I have purchased many of my bulb plants from Brecks, in particular tulip bulbs. They are the biggest, strongest, tallest, most beautiful tulips I have! I highly recommend this company! When you place an order of at least $50 or more, you will receive a $25 discount from them. Can’t beat that!

Gardens Alive offers plant fertilizers, insect control products, and grass seed which focus on an environmentally friendly approach to lawn and garden care.

Gurneys Seed and Nursery Company is another outstanding company to purchase vegetable seeds and plants from in preparation for your summer garden. This company gives a $20 discount to orders of $40 or more.

Spring Hill Nurseries is another one of my favorite places to order all perennials, grasses, trees, bushes, and everything else! They give a $25 discount to orders of $50 or more.

Of course, some of the best catalogs are those that give us lots of pictures and lots of ideas for new and interesting things to try around the yard! Some of the best ideas I’ve gotten for my garden have been from the following garden catalogs:

Garden Gate is another one I really love! Garden Gate is one of the few garden catalogs that prides itself on providing all gardening information without any advertisements. I have to say, this is really appealing! The catalog also includes info and tips from other gardeners about handy, easy to implement solutions to everyday problems. There’s info on landscaping small yards, before and after pictures, and even a home landscape plan or two to customize to your own design. I have a couple of these issues and really enjoy them.

Mother Earth News Magazine

Organic Gardening is just as the name implies, all about establishing an environmentally responsible, healthy yard and garden you can be proud of.

The Family Handyman is obviously not a typical gardening magazine, but it does contain some great “how to” articles on building items like a shed, a trellis, a bench and other fun yard things.

Garden Design has a more modern feel to it, and includes information on decorating tips and where to obtain unique garden items. Because this is a newer magazine, they actually allow you to browse through the catalog to see if you’re interested. Check it out!

Kitchen Garden is truly dedicated to the traditional vegetable garden, and growing food for your family and/or your community. The site gives you a chance to preview the catalog. Check it out!

Two other catalogs that I’ve recently been reading are Birds and Blooms and Backyard Living. These were the best subscriptions of all! They came free with the purchase of books I bought at the Books are Fun sale I attended recently. I got two books for half price, Best of Birds and Blooms and Budget Backyard Makeovers. That is definitely a bargain you can't beat!

I hope this list has helped you find what you're looking for. Enjoy!
