Fiberglass Inground Swimming Pools
Fiberglass inground swimming pools are the way to go if you’re looking to add an inground swimming pool to your yard. These pools are constructed as one solid piece of material, built in a factory, and shipped to your home. Once the ground is excavated, the pool can be lifted into the hole, which is then backfilled. Installation is quick and painless compared to other inground pools! The time of installation is minimal with fiberglass pools, and it can often be done in less than two weeks with minimal disturbance to your landscaping.
Still not sure if fiberglass inground swimming pools are for you? Well, let’s take a look at the warranty. Many fiberglass pools come with a lifetime warranty. Inground vinyl swimming pools and concrete (or gunite) inground swimming pools come with a warranty that is generally less than 10 years, and often cover only one part of the product. Vinyl swimming pools will eventually need a replacement liner, and gunite pools are subject to cracks that need repairing and/or tiles that need replacing. Still not convinced? How about this – cleaning of fiberglass inground swimming pools is much more manageable than anything you’ll have with either of the other inground swimming pools. The fiberglass material and coating that is generally placed on top ensures that algae and other pool yuk and grime are easily wiped off with a brush. Gunite pools must be drained and the sides of the pool scrubbed with “acid baths”!! I don’t know about you, but I’m not giving anything an “acid bath”! If you’re a member of a health club, you may have noticed routine emptying and cleaning of the pool – now imagine you doing that in your backyard! Vinyl swimming pools must also be drained for both vinyl liner replacement and thorough cleaning as algae can lodge between the folds of the vinyl. Still not convinced? Oh don’t you worry, I’ve got more benefits! Let’s talk about the surface material. I have scraped my knees, stubbed my toes, and ruined more swimsuits on the tough material of a gunite pool more times than I can remember! The surface area of fiberglass swimming pools is smooth as silk. (Well, maybe not THAT smooth, but it is pretty soft.) Vinyl swimming pools have this benefit as well, but the vinyl is subject to ripping and tearing. Do you have a dog? Don’t let your dog’s toe nails scrape the bottom of a vinyl swimming pool, or you’ll be replacing that liner sooner than you anticipated! A fiberglass pool can handle this type of wear and tear. Fiberglass pools also have all of the necessary elements built right into the pool – such as stairs and seating. These are additional features in other pools, and must be specifically added. So I believe I’ve provided sufficient information to help you decide whether or not fiberglass swimming pools are right for you and your family. I suppose there is a person every now and then who wouldn’t care for this design. The one downfall to this product is the fact that these pools are pre-formed, and therefore it is not possible to create individual, unique designs. If this is a big factor for you, then you’ll probably lean towards one of the other models. As for me, I’m going with fiberglass inground swimming pools all the way! That is, when I’m ready to trade it in for my above ground swimming pool. I do have to admit that I’m rather attached to my pool. After all, it was my first! :) Enjoy your search!
